After a relaxing train ride from Prague we spent a couple of days in Vienna. What a gorgeous, clean and spectacular city. Vienna is full of palaces, monuments, parks and music. It felt affluent and pristine.

We found the locals again not be overly-friendly, but we did meet a few. When we went into shops and asked how someone was, we were met with looks of confusion. Small talk is not appreciated in these parts. We found it funny and opposite of our Canadian ways. Still we very much enjoyed our time in Vienna.

There was a market going on around the church.
We tried this amazing cheese. This local who was a chef started chatting with us. He was so nice tasting the different cheeses with us. He told Cory that he had the “essence of his father-in-law”.
They had a built in scooper under the horses so there would be no mess on the streets.

Didn’t think I would like this cold potato salad, but it was my favourite!

We had front row seats for the Vildaldi Four Seasons Concert that night inside the church.
It was excellent!
Cory was impressed with these musicians.

We did a tour of the opera house that was crowded, but great.
The lobby
They don’t use microphones on stage. The acoustics are that good that they don’t need them. Every seat in the house can hear the performers.
The world record in 1991 for a standing ovation was here for Placido Domingo that lasted one hour and 20 minutes! There were 101 curtain calls after his performance of Otello
After a stop at a bakery for a sweet treat we visited the Kunsthistorisches Art History Museum.
The museum itself was so beautiful.
